Choral Scholarships (14+)

Junior Choral Scholarships are available for teenage boys (from the age of 14) and girls (from 16) until such time they enter tertiary education or employment. The ability to read music is essential and all Choral Scholars play at least one instrument.

Choral Scholars have three regular commitments at the Minster during the week: two on Sundays and one rehearsal on Thursdays.

Sunday

9.00am Full Rehearsal
10.00am Sung Eucharist

5.30pm Full Rehearsal
6.30pm Choral Evensong

Thursday

Although a great deal is expected of the Choral Scholars, much emphasis is on fun and team-work. In addition to their Minster duties, the Choral Scholars regularly go on tour, sing in cathedrals and concert venues and do recordings.

The Choral Scholarship scheme at Croydon Minster has proven an ideal breeding ground for future Oxbridge Choral Scholars and many former Minster Scholars have gained choral awards in some of the UK’s most prominent university chapel choirs.
