Mothers' Union

The new Croydon Minster with St George Mothers’ Union was formally established in September 2006.  Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm and the Afternoon Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 2.30pm.  Both meetings take place in the Almshouses, George Street.  We hold a meeting at St George’s once a term.  Once a term we have a Thursday morning meeting at 10am in The Minster which suits some of our members.  We also have a Knitting Group which meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 2pm in the Vicar’s Study at The Minster.

A Corporate Communion, Compline or Reflective evening takes place once a term, and we have a very varied programme of Speakers, social events and discussions.

On some Sundays we run a Holiday Reading Book Stall during Coffee after the Parish Communion, the proceeds of which are donated to support the Mothers’ Union.  Some members have been trained in Godly Play which is sometimes used with the Kingfishers (Sunday School) and we also support Baptisms.

We arrange two fundraising events each year, including our annual Family Fun Afternoon in September which is very popular.  All the money we raise goes to help projects run by the Mothers’ Union worldwide and ‘at home’.

New members/enquirers are always very welcome – we are a friendly group.  Please speak to Diana Hemmings, Branch Leader – tel. 020 8667 0575 or just turn up.
